You should have at least 2 drives C drive as an SSD to run antivirus and os and other important files, but not "junk"(big or not needed to be loaded fast) files. Then the 2nd as an HDD or SSD to store data and other files such as work or home projects.

15,6 inch Full HD IPS LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Gaming Keyboard RGB LED (Belgische layout)
   Intel® Core™ i7-8750H 4,1GHz
   RAM: 32GB DDR4-2133MHz SODIMM
   First disk:500GB SSD Crucial MX500
second disk: 1000GB SSD Crucial MX500
   NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
   6 in 1 Card reader
   Intel Wireless AC + Bluetooth
   Windows 10 Pro

All this for €1.894,00

I will look at it tomorrow. The GPU is not top class, but it's fine for none gaming. Regarding the RAM it's very much Hugues. You pay for something you probably never will need.

When I run our (at my company) software at a heavy load of many channels to collect data and process it while storing part of it on disk and the rest in an SQL Server I use about in the area of 9-14 GB of RAM. 32 G RAM is a lot Hugues and I don't think you will need it with the current system for the next 2-3 years. Then AI and other components could change the need.

So 2 drives saves a bit of time?  I assume this is for the heavy users like Carsten rather than the likes of me using Hotmail, this site and maybe the bbc news?

The point with two drives is to have the operating system run on the main drive and then keep all your data on the other drive.

If you have a 1 TB main drive it's not very likely you need a second drive unless you are Junior with hundreds of games. Big Grin

For you thechie friends, can we put the system on one drive and all datas AND all have SOME programs running from another, or do all the programs need to be on the system disk?

It is perfectly possible.

As Hugues write it is absolutely possible.

The normal recommendation is to have a system SSD of around 256 GB. The second disk is a spinning Hard drive with 1 or 2 TB data. The spinning HD is "much slower" than the SSD so it is used for storage. Databases, all your photos, movies, documents etc. If you have some programs that are either VERY big, like games you can choose to install them on the secondary disk.

The primary SSD (system disk) will run the operating system and your most used programs.

Unless you are a gamer the above configuration is MORE than enough.

My personal 2 year old laptop is having only one SSD of 1 TB. I still have more than 150 GB left.

My laptop at work is having only one SSD of 512 GB. There is still around 100 GB left.

So the size of the disk(s) depends very much on the data you need to store.

I was searching last week for a nice laptop, but it's like there is not the right match between price and hardware yet. I think I will wait to September/October to buy and hope that new models in the mean time have entered the market.

I have purchased one and I am pretty satisfied.
