All you high flyers jetting around the world! If I go to Islay it will be my biggest journey since I last went there 2 yeas ago! I did have a business trip to Birmingham earlier this year - that was 6 or 7 hours drive down a motorway. Islay is much closer in miles, a much more beautiful journey (including a road called "The Rest and Be Thankful" which is a glorious road in terms of scenery. However the ferry is 2.5 hours from my house with another 2 hours or so on the ferry, plus of course the obligatory toilet stops (even though they did not need at the previous stop 2 miles previously!).

There is a nice little hotel just in front of the ferry port. It has a delicious restaurant.
What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us?

There are 2 ferry ports, but this sounds like Port Askaig. Big hill out of the place, where my chain came off right at the start of a biking holiday there and I thought that it was a bad omen. Turned it was the sign of a loose chain! Horrible hill to cycle (or push in my case) up.
