Quote: The benefits of Rimbit are/were (at the time the of Indiegogo campaign) that it uses PoS, is pre-mined, and had an active, helpful community. The promise made (i.e. the premise as detailed in the Indiegogo campaign) was that while Bitcoin was understandable only be a select few, truly committed people who had the time and ability to delve into the nuances of the coin to figure out how it worked, Rimbit would be 'for the masses' and easily used and understood by people with smaller technical skills or background.

The promise was never really fulfilled. There was no app created to handle a business (or person) accepting Rimbit from a customer. There were no 'pre-made' buttons or tools for instantly adding Rimbit access to a website (where a website owner could easily copy-paste a button or series of functions and wham, suddenly had a Rimbit-friendly website). The ability for the 'average Joe' to be able to do just a little bit of effort and have a safe, functional Rimbit solution never materialized. PriorGuy's Rimbit Pi was a great step towards giving people an easy way to have a wallet earning interest 24/7 with almost no cost, but that was about all I saw.

The wallet is a simple direct copy of Bitcoin (actually copied from another alt-coin, which was a simple copy of bitcoin) with the PoS and Pre-mining added. But there was no further development after that. I did some work with Python to create some "neat" tools (well - neat to me...) to analyze total amount of interest earned each month and year, ways to clean up the wallet to optimize interest earned, etc., and when I needed help I found out that the programmer who originally wrote the Rimbit wallet hadn't touched it for over a year. PriorGuy was the one guru I could turn to for technical questions on this forum. To use/program Rimbit, you use the same commands or API as Bitcoin, but Bitcoin continued to progress and evolve and quickly there were Bitcoin commands that Rimbit didn't recognize, so you couldn't use them. While other coins continued to get better, Rimbit (despite being significantly better than Bitcoin when it first came out) remained stagnant.

There were a number of forum threads asking about improvements, suggestions, etc., and there were some amazing ideas posted there, but there never was a Wallet 2.0 that addressed the problems from the first wallet or capitalized on the amazing ideas from the forum.

In my mind what doomed Rimbit was the financial handling. *IF* the price had gone up as per expectations and hopes, there would have been considerably more interest and traffic, especially in the first year. There would have been something to post on social media! The PoS (with interest/minting) and pre-mining really were significant improvements over the PoW model. I advocated for a number of solutions but what happened was that Rimbit continued to be sold for $0.01 per RBT from the original, pre-mined wallet while at the same time suggestions were (and still are) made that the price would go up if only people would increase the social media noise. It is very simple economics that if there is effectively an 'infinite' supply at $0.01, then no one in their right mind will pay more than that somewhere else. No amount of social media noise will change that simple reality of economics. So the price remained at $0.01 until people figured out the price was never going to go up and left for other coins. Now the original wallet is being burned, but it is too little, too late. Now there are other coins that offer truly new innovations and advantages whose price *is* impacted by market demands, so what does Rimbit offer the world now? I did not think Bitcoin would stay around as long as it has given its host of problems, but it still remains and has a massive value cap (in billions of US$) and you can believe THAT isn't going away soon. Etherium is programmable money that allows things like Plutus.it (check it out) which is simply amazing and really can change the face of the landscape. Then there is privacy, speed of transaction/confirmations (i.e. when can you spend the money someone else sends you?), and a host of other issues or concerns that other coins address but Rimbit doesn't.

So, the bottom line is "What does Rimbit offer a new buyer that other coins don't?" and the answer is nothing. It was a great dream - and I bought in fully! - but we missed our window of opportunity and it is gone now. I have over $2,000 in RBT and I will keep it to use for teaching others and doing experiments with but I have no hope of getting my $2,000 back let alone earning a big profit. I am not bitter - it really *was* a good idea and the timing was solid and there are always risks in any new venture. CyberHippie put his heart and soul into the project and stuck with it a long time. I have never met him (don't get to his corner of the world very often...) but my sense is that his intentions and efforts were very sincere. There is no conspiracy or scam here at all. It is simply a good idea that didn't quite make it due to a series of decisions. That's life - that's business! And I got a really good education about a number of things (I was one of those people who could just NOT get my head wrapped around Bitcoin based on the info available at the time), I just wish I hadn't put quite so much money into that education.

Sorry for the wall of text, but your question is not answerable in quick sound bites....

Pelidaniel what makes you think that Marcello is behind?

I don't see Marcello in the team: https://plutus.it/team

They are all there with faces and full names. Anyone who has the time can check if they are real or not. If you do you are welcome to post your findings in here.

By a quick look on Twitter I only see post about Ethereum and Bitcoin https://twitter.com/plutusit?lang=en

Carsten we will not see anything with Marcelo name or picture, He knows better than that.  If you go on the forum and read some of Marcelo post all he talk about is the new project and so secretly about everything that  let me to believe he is behind that project.  Nothing they talked about on Plutus website sound real with solid evidence, one million dollars fundraising and no info about it anywhere? you search the team members and nothing is link to them or shows up, not even pictures. Marcelo is capable of creating everyone of those member to hide himself.

Yes and no to the smell! A lot of companies will have their official address in these sorts of documents as a mailing address - often it will be their accountants. When I am at my accountants there is a list of all the companies that are registered to that address and it is long. So that is not a bad smell to me. The fact that it is registered in London is a good thing too, though no guarantee. I would imagine that the laws regarding how companies are run (if Rimbit was even ever a genuine company) in the UK are a lot stricter than many other places.

Is this a good company to invest in? Hindsight knows for sure next year, but as I have no money just now it is not an issue for me just now!

Yeah...okay Bob. We also have those places in Denmark with many companies on one location.

Regarding the "smell" I think daniel is right to the point that it's strange that the people behind can't be found online....how is that possible today?`
