JSECoin news. A great alternative to ads.
#11
For sure Google will fight this or even make their own alternative browser mining coin.

Regarding the look of websites. Yes, it's a much better alternative to ads.

Cryptocurrency mining in the browser is a direct threat to Google's main income stream. The Adsense network makes billions each year. Google will do everything possible to protect one of its primary assets.

Coming from a purely Web Designer aesthetic point of view, JSECoin is a beautiful thing that means:
  • The designer doesn't have to worry about making room for advertising that always takes away from the elegance of the web page
  • There are no 404 not found errors or blank image files from an unmaintained ad server
  • The page loads at a much faster speed
  • A better user experience can be provided, especially on mobile
From a end-user perspective, JSECoin can save the visitor a marginal amount of money by saving on data costs on mobile and greatly increasing page rendering and loading speeds as compared to a page that makes calls to an ad server.

I am starting to warm to JSECoin and am considering using it on some of my sites.

There is an alternative to both ads and cryptomining in the browser, and that is: loosely coupled e-commerce.

Imagine this:
  • There are two small links on each page that link to an attached e-commerce store (e.g. shop.rimbit.dk)
  • In the store site visitors can support the site by buying products
  • e.g. A t-shirt which says the following:
                                                                            "DONT get your wallet!"
                                                                                     - Professor Hugues
Big Grin "Don't ever do this" Tongue

Maybe we should make some T-shirts...just for fun.

What are your sites Jacob?
What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us?

I don't actually sell t-shirts, but making some would be fun.

These are two sites I am working on right now:

https://radiantpond.com
https://classicure.com

They both focus on print-on-demand, but in this case it is art, not t-shirts.

Oh.. I didn't see that coming!

https://radiantpond.com doesn't load.

Wow! I definitely didn't notice that. I always test that site by typing in radiantpond.com in the browser. That works, and http://www.radiantpond.com also works, same with the www version with https in front of it.

It's a Clickfunnels Site, so it uses a cname from my domain registrar. I should have tested that all methods of typing in the url worked before going live.

Thanks for spotting this for me. "In the multitude of counsellors, there is safety"

I was wanting to setup some kind of master site with associated subdomains with www being the main one this website, and possibly a wordpress site on the root domain.

I've now setup a 301 redirect instead of a set of A redirects. I hope this works for the https with root domain. It may end up doing exactly the same as before.

In the meantime, try https://www.radiantpond.com or typing radiantpond.com without https

Yes, thanks for letting me know. Glad this was spotted before I spent too much on ads.
